Europe’s Solar Boom Has a Storage Problem

Solar has become Europe’s largest source of power during summer months, helped by government incentives, falling technology costs and a rapid buildout across rooftops and utility-scale projects. But that success is creating a new problem: on sunny days, Europe can produce more solar power than the system can absorb, pushing wholesale electricity prices to zero or below and leaving some renewable generators suffering from their own success.
